Gran Turismo Opening World Series Being Cancelled in Abu Dhabi

All in vain due to the ongoing military action as the planned in-person Gran Turismo 7 competition has been cancelled due to security concerns in Abu Dhabi. Gran Turismo Opening was scheduled on 28 March but the regional conflicts have decided this to be cancelled.

The sudden cancellation of the blockbuster event, slated for the iconic Space42 Arena, stems from the explosive instability ravaging the Middle East. The brief announcement on social media on March 6th, 2026 has informed the fans that event organiser says:

“The safety of everyone involved in our events remains our highest priority.” 

The further details are still in progress as Gran Turismo hasn’t revealed the future plans yet.

Gran Turismo Opening Event Cancellation

The cancellation has lowered the zeal of the racing enthusiast but the big news is that the fans who have purchased the pre-tickets will get full refunds. For the participants who take part in the online UAE Time Trial competition will receive the next instructions in the coming days.

Safety fears skyrocketed in Abu Dhabi and the surrounding region after the United States and Israel unleashed devastating strikes on Iran on February 28th. The attacks ignited fierce retaliation from Iran, which reportedly hammered several Middle East nations, including Abu Dhabi, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

Please keep in mind, beyond the Gran Turismo World Series, several other events have been cancelled or delayed in the recent weeks. The World Endurance Championship Opening has been postponed by the FIA announced on March 3rd, 2026 that was pre-planned in between March 26-28 in Qatar.
